    Lending stock to shorters is very profitable. Usually about 20% / YR which does far better than most investors JPM obviously thinks stock is going down so they don't want to have many shares in inventory. If they did not do it somebody else would jump in quickly. JMO but in a very short time you will see JPM over 5% again. They fell below 5 % but that in no way indicates they are out. Just a hair under 5 %.
    Unless you are a day trader why would you care about short trades? When a shorter buys to cover firms Like JPM and SS will sell the shares that are returned very quickly. So the effect on SP is usually only a day or sometimes less. Do you really trade Lynas so actively that you will gain from that?
    Want proof look back at changes in shorts of Shortman and then look at JPM buy and sell activity.
