JP Morgan wasn't shorting. They bought shares, and loaned them out to shorters. Got them back and sold them.
JP Morgan had been increasing the issue of ADRs on NASDAQ and managed to reverse the price discrepancy between markets - Meso had been consistently at a premium, but now Meso lags behind MSB. I think JPM bought these MSB shares as collateral for potentially issuing even more ADRs, but as Meso has continued to lag, they decided to just sell the MSB shares.
