UBS is certainly a 'market maker' and one of the services it provides is the lending of shares to short sellers.
We won't be able to calculate what they're up to from these deliberately opaque releases.
Remember the previous one where several related UBS companies were listed in different jurisdictions. The lending and borrowing happens 'between' companies that are in fact one. This is to minimise both transparency and taxation. Ever wondered why so many Australian investment banks are domiciled in Singapore? It's not for the weather.
Anyway, it looks like the short attack is over with daily gross shorts returning to normal levels.
