This notice is simply lodged because Chinalco has ceased to have an association with RIO. The original notice of 15 May was lodged as a response to the ASX inquiry. The ASX required separate holding statements for Chinalco for the other organisations that RIO had an interest in, including EXT. When Chinalco dumped its holding in RIO it also had to lodge corresponding notice statements withdrawing interest for these 'third party' entities.
Chinalco (Shining Prospect) has never had a direct interest in EXT and RIO have not sold their share holding. That is, nothing has tangibly changed.
Wouldn't it be great if Chinalco bought directly into EXT to hack RIO off. Well done to all long term holders - we are watching the miracle unfold!
