Gham the answer was in ten very next sentence in the announcement!

Orthocell are not claiming Gelgro fixes nerve injuries that can't be fixed in other ways usIng ridged tubes or simply stitching the nerve together. They claim the surgery is faster, with more predictable results with the improvements patients are seeking in half the time. 12 months instead of 24!

If you had a painful arm injury with little or no strength and the doctor says I can fix this surgically and you have two options.

Option A : I can stitch the nerve together but results are not predictable as the sutures or loss of nueral flIIds can interfere with the nerve repair and it will be a 24 month rehab period.

    or

Option B: I can used a flexIble cellulos scalfold (gelgro) which give you much better chance of near full recovery in half the time

    Which one would you choose?

According to the market research stated, 700,000 people each year have this type of injury and Orthocell have a patent on the product. This is why the announcement is significant.
