Venetoclax appears to be a biologic drug with an extracellular target - so it appears to have excellent prospects based on results so far. Also 2 tablets a day is a very easy dose to comply with. The drug is a bit different technology-wise to what PYC is trying to do with (1) CPPs delivering intracellular drug cargoes, and (2) intracellular biologics development targeting myc-expression in cancer cells. I'm not too worried about the press's characterisation of the mechanism as 'flicking a death switch'. There are many ways to skin a cat....
AbbVie is extremely aggressively targeting biologics therapies for cancer. Note that they are all drugging extracellular targets.
This should not be surprising, because PYC is doing a completely different thing. If PYC can pull off it's 'miracle' then we're all rich, but PYC never claimed to be working in this space i.e. drugging extracellular targets.
You are right in saying we are some distance away from human trials in PYC's work. I would say at least 18 months at best, but the company did not promise anything on this front as I recall.
