Have you considered the possibility that the Chinese market has taken a long time to actually set up.
The influencers, the setting up of markets, the timing of launches to coincide with particular events as we have just witnessed.
If this has been achieved under the influence of Covid ravaged supply lines and disrupted business dealings then it says a lot for the skill in the drivers seat so to speak, being able to take remedial measures at short notice with a seemingly endless stream of problems.
Your efforts at recollection don't reflect the actual situation with regards to the "Chinese venture". It was always recognized that the major part of the first years uptake was planned for this part of the calendar year. Apart from that the deal wasn't signed until December so a year hasn't passed as yet.
The only thing that will wake the market up is profit from sales of product.
Google has a very good spellchecker, I don't think you would be disappointed
