The UK Government has ordered 10 million Roche antibody tests to commence general screening of its population. As agreed yesterday, the tests will be available on NHS for those who need them. The action was described as the beginning of a “very large-scale roll-out” of coronavirus antibody testing.
The UK-wide testing will help scientists with virus research in the assessment of immunity profiles in the population. Continued testing is required to determine long-term antibody/immunity characteristics
Other European countries have been carrying out limited antibody testing programmes. Germany and Spain have been conducting over 60,000 tests weekly.
