Funny reading all the trolls who are so sure this test is of no use. They all focus on early detection but overlook the fact that even PCR testing has limited early accuracy.

Another key here is that pathology labs have limited capacity and each test costs a chunk of money to collect and process. The govt are throwing billions at stimulating a damaged economy. To test the entire population with a $20 rapid test would cost maybe $600 million. It's not cost prohibitive and the other big tick for this testing method is that you can vastly expand testing capacity. At the moment you need a specialist pathology lab to run the tests but there are hundreds, perhaps thousands of testing centres that are probably capable of meeting the skill requirements to deliver the rapid test. Dr's, nurses and workplace drug and alcohol services could all be stood up to do the rapid testing. It's a way to vastly expand testing and find 'most' who have the virus or who have had it.

I would suggest rather than listening to the HC experts that all do their own research. There are plenty of much smarter people than us on here who are putting out very informative information on the benefits of rapid testing. A few threads from the bird below, note these guys should know a little more that the average HC punter.
