I haven't done public company stuff but my private company sales over the years have been 2 to 4 times earnings. It is very much as you have stated Redant - depends on lots of things - including whether the acquirer thinks they are getting a bargain or whether they are confident of turning around the fortunes of the target (like Provelmare think they can do with Lyramid).
One thing I did note is that BLC has been trading for 30 years...BUT they are only projecting earnings of $500k for FY21. I would be interested in going back over their accounts for the past 30 years to see what sort of losses their parent has been funding over how many of those 30 years.
Hopefully Maria & Co can make it into a cash cow with burgeoning net profits - coupled with a huge moat!
