Thank you to Russia-Ukraine, big red day for us and most other stocks everywhere not only the ASX!
Here's a thought. Russia is the number 7 copper producer in the world, only slightly below number 6 Australia based on 2020 numbers. In terms of ranking by copper export, they have gone from no-where to being number 2 largest net exporter by 2018, behind Chile by a clear margin.
Now they are going to war with the Ukraine. The West may not want to fight them head-on due to their huge nuclear arsenal, but they may very will pick their weapon of choice, namely economic sanctions. Guess what's going to happen to the copper supply and the price of the commodity?
Shoot me down if you like, this could very well be a boon for us.
