On Wizpay, my instincts tell me that CCP will address the market in the same way as it has addressed Wallet Wizaes - that is, reject most applicants, and only issue cards to folk who are more likely to not welch, and in return, CCP can be profitable on a thinner merchant fee.
CCP would have a vast amount of data on the reliability of debtors, and what it learns by being in the PDL game augments that, and it has an affect on screening applicants for other lines of business (Wallet Wizard and Carstart). The 80% of the Wallet Wizard applications that CCP rejects is valuable information that assists credit vetting, but it also enhances skip tracing.
One can be fairly sure that BNPL is not going to escape the ambit of consumer law for ever, and if Government legislates that BNPL players must be licensed, getting such a licence may not be easy for some.
The beauty is that even if I am wrong, and Wiizzpay turns into Fizzpay, CCP can simply abandon the idea and invest time and funds into its tried-and-tested money spinners.
