To become a member of the AICD you have to qualify under the rules which really means that you need to have been a director of a company and be upstanding. Once accepted you may use the initials MAICD. However to use the initials GAICD you need to have gone through the AICD's internationally recognized Company Directors Course. This is a one week inhouse course that covers all aspects of governance, accounting law, etc that a director may need to know. it is followed by an exam and the requirement to do a written case study. In all it is classed as over 100 hours of continuing professional development and is well recognised. Once passed you may use both the letters MAICD and GAICD.
