it can be horses for courses, but, also, some companies wont pay dividends until they've actually paid the tax dollars to the ATO... to enable a franked dividend to be paid... not all the time, there is ways to work around, but, can be different for each company... so some would have to wait until they've lodged and paid tax return bill.
