It is a short departure time, but the company could have held him based on the employment contract of 27/1/2016 if there was an issue. What it doesn't look like is a CEO leaving under a cloud, or racing to leave a sinking ship - so to speak. He has a 12 month restriction from working for a competitor.
It could be that with the SP low, his SARs and options aren't looking so valuable. The AGM may have lead to negotiations over incentives, and he was unhappy with the total amount.
The market reaction has factored in bad news or a bad outlook that probably isn't justified.
IFM may end up paying up a bit for their next CEO however in the current market.
