Fair enough comment by you MPPa, but the concern is what losses were incurred due to the significant lockdowns in Oz's two most populous cities? Will this completely wipe out any hope of a net profit for FY 21 !H that for MYR finishes on 31 January 2022?
Going forward, despite Premiers claiming 'there'll not be any more', should we trust them not to impose lockdowns again or not restrict travel over the border through time-consuming and money-grabbing testing as Palaszczuk is doing?
The Premiers via National Cabinet may continue to somehow shut out international tourists, despite ScoMo's wish as Prime Minister for us to open up. Some international visitors can be big spenders at stores like MYR as they buy gifts, plus items that may not be available in their home nation. A classic example is business convention attendees, whom from foreign lands have been zero since February 2020.
On a more upbeat note, I've made multiple visits to the MYR Melbourne CBD flagship store in recent days, noting a high volume of prospective shoppers in the store plus outside, queuing to view the themed Christmas windows. Heaps of families with young children, as one would hope given the iconic status of this yearly display. Some venture inside to visit Father Christmas on the seventh floor, and hopefully purchase a gift or three.
