Bloody hell. It's not hard to see why the local council wanted CB out -- just a complete lack of total transparency more than anything else. Glad we aren't the only ones that have felt the impact. (EDIT: Burty this was in response to your comment, but HC shat itself)
Like a few others have speculated, it wouldn't surprise me if NVX end up with RL in charge. That said, I think this will be an indicator of lack of suitable interest in the job more than anything else. The board have clearly indicated they are looking for someone with manufacturing and operations experience; RL is not this fella. I think we could do worse -- he seems to be a more transparent, open-minded leader than CB ever was. That in itself will be a bonus. But the reality remains that this business desperately need some manufacturing experience within the C suite.
I remain sceptical. Tariffs (against China and other markets where they have diverted goods), but they have also whacked the very nation states that are investing heavily in the US market -- think Japan and South Korea. The US needs to be careful what it wishes for. No point in protecting local onshore production if no one wants the products any longer or if it's too expensive (and not enough support) to set up shop in the US and produce.
