450,000 a year makes me wonder why more ceo's sallaries are not tied to performance or share price...if that was the case here and dean was to sufferat the same rate as shareholders his wage would be down to a few thousand dollars pa...and maybe he could have suffered the indignanty of taking the drink bottles for recycling.
in any event ...i always said this would be his swan song as he would be unemployable, but he has probably set himself up for early retirement anyway.
maybe the reasons for leaving at this time are personal, maybe the stress of the job has given him the big c, something few people talk about but when they do, suddenly you find every second person has it.
maybe everyone in the mining game should all be retiring at 55...it's no good chasing that extra dollar till you drop dead on the job.
