When a CEO leaves at short notice with no firm succession plan then it usually isn't a good sign.
The board may be unhappy about recent unreported performance and want to push him out.
Or he may want to sell his shares before bad news is released, and he is much more restricted while still CEO.
It's hard to know, but CEOs don't often leave under this type of scenario if good news is imminent.
