My take:
KG was all but lined up, was playing hardball trying to counter with STO, STO were unwilling to cave-in, he dog-whistled to the media last week, STO gave in and handed over the golden handcuffs, WPL lost their lead outside candidate.
Interim internal candidates (full respect to her) after this long don't bode well IMO.
