There are a lot of silly posts surfacing right now but yours is a cracker.
to say 'Stuart Nicholls was by far the best CEO of any ASX company I have been involved in'.... well, all I can say is at that reate, I'm surprised you can even afford power, internet and the device upon which you typed. There are many remarkable CEO on the ASX, and SN is not amongst them.
His role as a director was to deliver value to SH. His role as CEO was to execute the strategy which he as a director helped formulate. He accomplished neither.
I personally regard the man as very capable. Knowledgeable and personable. He was tactically brilliant during the WGO TO (although this may have been devised by other directors), but not so in the lead up or in subsequent events. The reality is simple....he, and we, were outgunned by entities which brought guns to a knife fight. He was strategically outflanked by GR and there was little or nothing he could do.
but his time was up. Which I is why I was one of very few calling for his head over the past month or two, for which I endured a wall of vitriol. And now all look at yourselves...licking your chops at the first sign of SP growth.
so when spockie calls this a black swan event....really? Only to the emotionally blinkered masses here on HC. Or for you to suggest we were 'well on the way to becoming a multi billion dollar energy company'... That's not what the empirical evidence tells us.
and for you to think BPT may fire off a salvo whilst nobody is looking...? Seriously? Isn't this the most watched stock on HC after all? Aren't the papers flooded with this news now? You don't think the tacticians over at Hancock have numerous playbook ready to roll, addressing every permutation?
its this simple....GR holds all the cards as she has locked up WE. She is the lion with one paw on the carcass, patiently considering its next move, which it's done many times before. Stokes et al are the hyena which simply must wait and see what remnants may be available to it. They're in almost as much an invidious position as STX. But at least, for now, we SH get to dine on our own morsel.
