This link below is interesting. It doesn't say anything directly related to fuel cells, but does indicate the money that can be saved by reducing peak demand and and resultant upgrades. I am sure Brendan Dow has indicated th control of fuel cells via smart metering to provide supply authorities with the abilities to load lop as required via regulated control of Bluegens etc.
from the article According to a study by Brattle Group , just a five- percent drop in peak demand on a national basis would eliminate the need for the installation of close to 600 infrequently used, high-emissions power plants, saving approximately $3 billion.
