Not quite like that. Megafauna suggested tripods and I suggested triffids instead (they were also three legged). BUT my predictive text thingy put in traffics instead without my noticing. SO I was correcting my own mistake, not correcting Megafauna when I said it should be triffids . It is all there in the thread if you read it carefully.
Mention of particular books was after this.
