Yes, that’s why I said “open” positions. There are clearly people shorting it on an interday basis as this data shows (I follow some on Twitter). However they are opportunistic and they read the tape on a daily basis and profit from negative news/sentiment on any given day.
They aren’t systematically shorting it every single day of the last nine months to drive the price down. There’s a clear difference. That’s why the open shorts from Shortman help provide a bigger picture.
Pretty simple stuff really.
