Polynovo CEO, Paul Brennan, discusses Polynovo’s rise to prominence with Karen Sinclair, Principal of leading Australian IP patent attorney firm, Griffith Hack.

Brennan stresses the importance of companies building a strong IP position, starting with making IP protection a commercial priority from the very early days.

He reveals that at Polynovo, key stakeholders attend quarterly IP strategy meetings with Griffith Hack, with discussions including “what to patent (and therefore publish) and what to keep secret, applications to new devices or fields of use, the understanding and managing of technology partners and keeping a watchful eye on the competition, making the most of the breadth and depth of the portfolio, and trademarks”. He also stresses the importance of protecting trade secrets and the people that hold them.

The article concludes

Brennan believes that focussing “on the development of IP completely changes the way a company looks at its R&D” and that the right approach to applying technologies across a broad platform will keep IP “safe and alive for years to come”.
