I have just been up at the mining portal. Between the bourbon and cola cans, cannabis utensils, vandalism, noise from state highway 2, power poles/lines and road designed for vehicle access, I don't see how the Protect Karangahake vocalists try to sell the portal pad as some kind of spiritual homeland.

I could literally hear every car and truck that drove through Karangahake on SH2. If I had any doubts that this area can be brought up to minability with no noticeable effects then I am sold on the issue now. Lovely area but let's not overdo it aye lads...
