Our macroscopic world - we are know waves are waves and solid objects particle like. However, quantum theory holds that for the very small this distinction breaks down. light can behave either as a wave, or as a particle. this applies for objects with mass like electrons.

so what happens - the atom decides whether it was a wave or a particle when it is measured, or a future event causes the photon to decide its past.

so in conclusion - it is more likely that only when we measure atoms do their properties (observable) come into reality.
