I gotta warn you now Everyone in the oil industry from the floor cleaner to the CEO are hugely overpaid.
The only insight I can get into it, is the nefarious geopolitical maneuvers in the past that have been used to make money in oil. (Read Daniel Yergin's Pulitzer prize winning book 'The Prize').
If you handle oil at all you get filthy and that's not just because its black (red, brown, or yellow) and sticky.
