I want the managers of my stocks to b 100% focussed on running the business. If they produce the results, the returns will follow. To paraphrase a famous quote, in the short term the market is a voting machine, in the long run it is a weighing machine. If management spend too much time spruiking their company and not enough running it, problems are sure to ensue.
However, I can definitely see the merits of share buyback although this is not the domain of management but rather the board.
