re: Ann: Chairman's Letter to Shareholder... “An independent director is a non-executive director who is not a member of management and who is free of any business or other relationship that could materially interfere with – or could reasonably be perceived to interfere with – the independent exercise of their judgment.”
So these 4 guys are independent?
We know they were put in by the largest shareholder (NHC)
Since NHC put them in, you have to ask - are they also independent of NHC? Are they acting for all sharholders or for NHC?
We have no way of knowing if they will act in the interests of ALL shareholders. Prior to the board spill New Hope made no promises of acting for other shareholders. They only said they were unhappy with past performance. Some people assumed they would act for other shareholders to improve performance but this has not been stated anywhere before of since the spill and so far this is just a hope.
New Hope have had plenty of time to come out and explain their vision for the company and their strategy to achieve this and let the other 84% shareholders decide for themselves but thus far they have stayed quiet.
