That was a good write-up in your blog EG. I am an IT Reseller so was offered shares in the float back @ 20c. You speak of mistakes of omission and commission in your blog - well my mistake of omission was not buying at float. I was keen on the prospects of the business but the one thing that tipped me over the edge was the iliquidity of the stock (being so tightly held by management). Being a fairly active investor I like to have stocks which have some reasonable turnover in them. The rest of course is history - float @ 20c, all-time high of $1.97 and now sitting around $1.60.

I do hold now but was very late onboard. DDR punched through various resistance levels at regular intervals over the last few years. Every time it would do so I would have my finger hovering over the Buy button, only to talk myself out of it due to the tightly-held nature of the stock (I have been burnt by this issue previously). I can't count the number of times I let it go. Of course the same issue is still there - the stock is tightly held - and this can sometimes be either a significant weakness or a major strength as SP moves can be amplified by this factor. As you rightly point out in your blog though - management's wealth is tightly coupled to DDR's SP so that is an encouraging factor.

There is a reason David (Dicker) has been in business for 30+ years. I would say the dumping of the Apple distributorship as part of the ED acquisition was the best decision he made there. Most disties fall over themselves to be allowed to sell Apple - I personally won't touch them due to the ridiculous retail margins on offer and I'd say David was very sensible in having the guts to drop them.

I'm looking forward to what the next few quarters hold...
