Thanks for sharing that story & i'm glad you were able to come through this OK with your significant other. I learned during the mining boom to always stay diversified, both in terms of individual companies and your broader exposure to sectors and industries. My OBJ/WFL losses are still reasonably significant, however. I realised yesterday that even if they were to double in price in the next six months they'd still only be around the value of their tax loss... i think i'll hold onto em for another few months (what's the harm? they've lost so much that a bit more won't hurt) but i can definitely see myself finally letting go of them come end of financial year.
