    You'd hope, but it was the previous gas shortfall that drove Cottee's last push for reform and the response from the politicians was lukewarm to say the least. There were some tweaks around transparency and backhaul but no real appetite to lower the pipeline tariffs or regulate them enough to really bring down gas prices. The talked a lot of hot air about it in the media but didn't follow up with much action.

    So I'm not pinning my hopes on the pollies. Better a market solution, and the Moomba pipeline is that solution IMO. Even if it's $3/GJ it's still cheaper than the northern route. Unfortunately at the moment there isn't enough gas to underwrite it, and nobody is in a hurry to help Central find it.
