The grid is not required when building a new service station for EVs just solar panels and other forms of storage either Vanadium Redox flow or even LFP as storage banks to down load into the paying motorists. Now Vanadium Flow can be charged whilst discharging. So anyway we have Sun over most of Australia and its free and delivered daily with out trucks needing loading to cart that fuel.
You are not thinking about the true meaning of renewable energy. Remember there is an electric pump delivering the fuel you use to fill your car and truck that brings the fuel all the way to the pump you stand at to fill your ICE car so its a very inefficient way we do it already.
Man will adapt he does it all the time, new energy will continue and there is little you or I can do about it.
OH yes you are correct we will need a lot more copper for all those electric motors in the EVs and as you say charging stations. But the true use of renewables doesn't require the Grid but it will take a few years to establish these, like it did with Fossil Fuel vehicles at the start.
