Down Under Down Under is a cult song by the Australian band «Men at Work». The song was released in 1981 and reached number one in the charts in several countries. The lyrics ironically deal with Australian quirks. The Australians also colloquially refer to their continent on the other side of the world as down under. However, the Australian fishing industry is still in its infancy. That is precisely why the management team of Bonafide undertook the long journey in April 2018 to get an exact picture on-the-ground. Discussions with company founders, management and employees of aquaculture companies, as well as visits to sea farms and processing plants have allowed us to draw interesting conclusions. Australia has a worldwide reputation for particularly sustainable and high-quality fish products, with a focus on species such as salmonids, tuna, oysters, prawns and abalone. This enables manufacturers to sell their products as premium products in international markets. The government also supports the industry with funding for research. The global demand for high-quality maritime products will increase. Australian producers are thus well positioned for the future. One thing is for sure... we're coming back down under.
