ADAS-COG is the other widely used endpoint and it is essentially the same sum of the boxes type test administers by raters. For all of these endpoints there is a high degree of subjectivity embedded in their design and administration by raters, hence the need for rater training and quality assurance processes. There is a significant ongoing debate about which are the most appropriate measures for detecting and staging AD. It is clear in 10 or so years time we will not be using rater administered sum of the box type tests but until then these are the endpoints that have had successful drug approvals so these are going to stick around for a while.
