I just go to the P&L to compare dividends received to management and performance fees paid.
With many LICs, the management and performance fees completely gobble up all the dividends the fund receives over the period...and then some!
WAM, I must say, doesn’t do too badly on this score!
But at the end of the day, I think most retirees are happy with the diversification a LIC provides them, and the (usually) fat dividend they receive, so don’t really have an inclination to look too closely under the bonnet.
Anyhow, it’s an interesting exercise to undertake with the LICs that appeal to you.
I just go to the P&L to compare dividends received to management...
