The Australian Financial Review’s Street Talk column reported the 178-year-old wealth manager had tapped Citi Australia’s bankers as private capital firms weigh its potential as an M&A target. Brookfield’s private equity dealmakers had a file open on Insignia, but the Canadian investor’s interest was at a “very early stage” and no decision had been made to table a bid or formally approach the board, sources said.
The company later said it was “not aware of any offer”.
