rabbit... best not to learn... just as with 98% of traders that go long and lose... 98% of short traders end up losing. Best to be the middleman buying from the shorters and selling to the longers :)
sharp contraction = the bear has set in = if you want to trade the short side, wait for a bear flag (bull rally) = crack of flag start shorting the poo out of anything that is showing weakness within a distribution phase.
"Check out the sell side of CHC and IOF this morning, 3 parts of f all sellers. Should be a good day for both."
Turned out to be the top didn't it? LOL, it's a dead giveaway... when you spot something like that, here's what we do. Say we have 100k shares in CHC, break it apart... show a little on screen about 1% above current price, and show a second parcel twice the size at 5% above current... the buyers will think they have to chase to the second lot to get anything... as bids come in, sell half the bid size and keep repeating until you've reduced your holding to zero or whatever you want to hold.
It's the same at the market bottoms in reverse... it may look like noone's there to buy with sellers aplenty... Hah! wrong. We're there alright :D
