400% increase sounds like alot but when there will be so many car companies and renewable storage companies requiring lithium it could be a conservative increase.
Not all lithium projects that the world needs will go ahead on time. This will also cause an increase in spot price which will in turn drag up contract pricing. I remember reading an article which summarised said that it is somewhat unknown how much lithium the world is going to need over the next 5 to 10 years. The small amount that is required for each battery cell mean that it can increase many multiples without effecting the price per unit. I believed that battery grade lithium carbonate will get up to around $40,000 USD per tonne however this journalist almost had me comparing to cobalt pricing.
