@RoyESo, it's Mitsubishi buying here.
That makes very much sense to me, as they probably see this as
a) a good investment opportunity
b) a means to help secure supply of critical metals to their car business (conventional and EV - the Mitsubishi i-MiEV was among the first really good electric cars worldwide) as well as other businesses (e.g. Mitsubishi Electric).
Indeed, looking at the AR 2018, they had likely a negligible shareholding in MLX as of 30.6.2018 (neither Mitsubishi nor Morgan Stanley are mentioned there) and now they own almost 9%.
That's all very good news!
