When the sell side thins out, it means the market marker wants to get rid of a lot of stock at that price point. It's a trick to suck the punters buy more shares than what they would on average at that price point.

Remember CHC? The sp lost 25% shortly afterwards. I explained the way we play it on the CHC thread :) Offer some shares out well above the last traded price (the buyers feel they will need to chase up to here to get a fill)... as bid comes in, get ready to drop shares onto 'em.


PS. I'm out on 70% of PPT shorts... see I made a big profit on it :D I get the impression it may too, the other managers are running hot too. There's a feeling in the marketplace, that the hot money pulled from bond funds in the last month will end up with equity fund managers... perhaps.
