Just opened a few more of the older announcements and you will see that Morgan Stanley and Mitsubishi report their shareholdings concurrently as Mitsubishi owns more than 20% of Morgan Stanley. Refer to when they both became substantial holders on 15/7/16. Same shareholding.
The documentation attached to the announcements states that Morgan Stanley are acting as a Prime Broker and lists the hedge funds that securities are being lent to. I think you will probably find there is both going on, Internal trading by MS 'prop shop' and lending of securities to others...
