Simon Marais is a contrarian investor which means he looks to buy when the market sentiment is to sell . They actively buy stocks when they consider that the SP does not reflect the value of the business . After buying they take on the role of an activist share holder to increase the value of their investment.
Their philosophy is that most businesses do not change much from week to week yet their share price may deviate substantially often for no particularly good reason. If they see basic long term value they buy and then look to create upside.
