It is separate. However I think its good that judges can be held accountable for abuses of authority. Decisions need to be made fairly.
With the karoon/petrobras kcase, my view is that the first judge misinterpreted the 2016 law. 1) the law had a 24 month adoption period. 2) Many asset sales have been done on the previous laws.
On top of that, I don't believe any corruption was involved in the deal making. It was somewhat competitive in a low oil environment. If we don't win the case, then I hope its because it wasn't a fair process.. and theres proof of it being unfair.
lets hope the right decision prevails... I just don't want a wrong decision based on bad information.
