I think this is a case of Merck, Novartis or Glaxo paying up to grab the full rights to their IP of interest. There are actually three shots at a massive cash payment. Does not have to be a takeover to massively reward SH in a hurry. SP would rise dramatically even if such an offer arose and was discussed I suspect, even if not taken up.
However I suspect with a longer term horizon we are significantly better off to keep supporting IMM with capital when they need it, and share the fat eventual profits and distributions then. The SP should keep growing with good news as the drugs get closer to market.
