The substantial holder notifications are required for any Relevant Interest, which includes your own holdings but also holdings of Associates. So for example, if a stock is substantially held by Morgan Stanley, then MUFG will also file a form for the same number of shares as MS is an Associate of MUFG. So it includes legal ownership, beneficial ownership as well as a more broad interpretation of economic exposure such as derivative or held by associates. In this case, Bank of America are holding stock as part of the PB business and those trades reflect those from their hedge fund PB clients, not any view from Bank of America on the merits of Z1P.
