Former Royal Marine and Robert Gordon University graduate Donald entered the North Sea oil and gas industry after leaving the military. He and Duncan MacNiven went into business in 1998 by founding drilling consultancy Leading Edge Advantage. MacNiven, an University of Aberdeen graduate and former energy industry lawyer, is an executive director of Warrego. They founded Warrego's Australian business in 2007 to bid for the EP469 block in which the recent discoveries have been made.
