    Thanks for your reply. The scenarios you point out are true for those that have held wgo for less then 12 months and in that case you are correct in that there is no real difference except deferring tax. My understanding is that if you have held wgo for longer then 12 months then there is a difference as you will not have the 12 month 50% cgt discount if you take the stx scrip deal and sell within the next 12 months or even perhaps stx get taken out within 12 months as you will essentially be resetting your 12 months. It is unlikely that the 80% rollover relief will apply given how things are playing out.
    This is my understanding and I may be wrong but it's the only reason I'm hesitant in taking the stx offer for me as I will have to wait another 12 months to be eligible for the 50% cgt discount rule
