@MB88 - you seem to have some fundamental misunderstandings as to how the ATO rules around how 'CGT events' and 'CGT discount' work. The conclusions you've drawn that you will be somehow significantly worse-off in the scenario of accepting the STX offer and then selling on market at the same price make no sense at all to me and seem to be completely incorrect.

Unless CGT Relief becomes applicable (which is looking unlikely), then accepting the STX offer will constitute a CGT Event and if you have held your WGO shares for >12mths the CGT discount provisions will be applicable exactly the same as if you sold on market. The value per share attributed to your WGO holding for CGT purposes would presumably be determined as of the date the transfer is processed. That same value per share then becomes the CGT commencement value for your new STX shares and the 12-mth clock starts as of that date in relation to your new STX holding (and the original buy-in price of your WGO holding is no longer of any relevance for CGT purposes).

Thanks. I got now. I allowed the 80% rollover relief to confuse me as I thought it meant it would reset the 12 month time frame if they didn't hit 80% and I accepted the offer
